What matters to Houston matters to America. And the more we understand our region, the more we thrive — changing our world and our communities for the better. That’s why in 2019, Greater Houston Community Foundation launched Understanding Houston in partnership with the Kinder Institute for Urban Research. Understandinghouston.org details the challenges that many in our community face.

Understanding Houston is a central resource featuring independent research organized in a way that empowers people throughout Greater Houston to take informed action — individually and collectively — to build a region that provides everyone the opportunity to reach their full potential.

We are pleased to partner with Community Catalyst, which showcases the work of Houston-area nonprofit organizations as they strive to tackle these challenges. Through partnerships and collaborations like these, we bring light to complex topics and emerging issues impacting our region and the collective impact we can have to address them.
